Call. Zero gravity

challenge weightlessness

Space flights are out of reach for most people, and such an imaginative event. Imagine yourself in a flight jumpsuit aboard a spacecraft, in zero gravity. What’s that like? Program “Call. Weightlessness “answers” cosmic “questions. The route starts in Moscow. A visit to the Center for Cosmonautics and Aviation and the Museum of Cosmonautics at VDNH will be an introduction to the comic theme and will create a space mood. Manned vehicles, artificial earth satellites, rockets, moonwalks – the type of comic equipment impresses both children and adults! The route is built on the principle of “from theory to practice.” Its next stop is the Star City Cosmonaut Training Center. Excursion, medical examination, briefing, training on simulators on which today’s astronauts are preparing for flights and participants in the pre-flight training of the crew of the film “Challenge” took place. It’s time for the heroes to conquer the sky. You are waiting for a flight aboard the laboratory IL- 76 MKD Up to 15 weightlessness modes. Incredible culbits in a safe space. Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNH)

The largest museum and recreational complex in the world, a grandiose “park of the Soviet period” in the north-east of Moscow. The uniqueness of VDNH is that it is both a giant park, an architectural ensemble and an exhibition space, where the largest metropolitan festivals and concerts are held and public art objects are exhibited. The tour route runs along the Central Alley. In 1.5 hours, the visitors will learn the history of the Exhibition from the date of its foundation to the present day, interesting facts about the fountains “Friendship of Peoples” and “Stone Flower,” the history of the creation of pavilions of the Soviet republics, about modern zoning and the purpose of the Exhibition nowadays

Center "Cosmonautics and Aviation"

The exposition of the Center includes a large number of exhibits demonstrating the achievements of Russian cosmonautics: from archival documents to models of spacecraft made in kind. It was created to popularize the achievements of the domestic rocket and space, aviation and defense industries and was implemented as a joint project of the Moscow government, VDNH, Roscosmos state corporation and a number of enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex. In the center “Cosmonautics and Aviation” you can see more than 120 unique samples of flight and space technology, exhibits of military-industrial enterprises, over 2 thousand rare archival documents, photographs and videos about the history of space achievements

5D-cinema "Space Sphere"

Moscow, Pavilion No. 34 VDNH Kinoteater “Space Sphere” is the only interactive exhibit of this format in the world, created specifically for the center “Cosmonautics and Aviation” at VDNH. From the outside, it looks like a 16-meter multimedia sphere showing the surfaces of the planets of the solar system. Inside it is a modern 5D-cinema, in which guests of VDNH will be able to make a virtual flight into space. The dynamic platform inside the cinema is capable of tilting, vibrating, rising and lowering in accordance with the storyline of the film. Each movement creates a presence effect and turns the audience into conquerors of the endless Universe. The Space Sphere Hall simultaneously seats up to 30 spectators

Cosmonautics museum

The Cosmonautics Museum is one of the largest scientific and technical museums in the world. The history of the museum began in the second half of the 20th century, when in 1964 the monument “Space Conquerors” appeared on the map of Moscow. The titanium rocket at VDNH has become a symbol of a high-quality leap in the path of technological progress. In April 1981, on the twentieth anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin, the Memorial Cosmonautics Museum was opened in the monument’s stylobate. It presents evidence of the first successes and achievements of Russian cosmonautics: spacesuits, artificial Earth satellites; spacecraft for the study of the Moon and the planets of the solar system

Star town is one of the most important points on the “space” map of Russia. It is here that astronaut pilots are preparing for flights. Participants of the tour to Zvezdny Gorodok will get acquainted with its history and the history of creating the Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yu.A. Gagarin, they will see unique objects of the technical territory where cosmonauts are directly prepared for space flights, including a full-size analogue of the Mir orbital station and the Soyuz spacecraft simulator hall. Excursionists will learn how astronauts are preparing for the flight, which is included in their diet upon returning to the ground and much more

Centrifuge: carousel for heroes

One of the mandatory elements of pre-flight training of astronauts is centrifugal training. They must show how a person copes with overloads that occur when starting and landing. The Cosmonaut Training Center has two centrifuges: TsF-7 and TsF-18. The scale is really impressive: the radius of rotation is 18 meters, the total mass of the rotating parts is 305 tons. Due to the special design, even one person can drive the centrifuge, simply pushing the mechanism with his hand.

The maximum “power” of the overload created by TsF-18 is 30 units, which is incompatible with life. Previously, when the requirements for astronauts were much tougher, overloads did not exceed 12 units. Modern training takes place in a more gentle mode – overloads are up to 8 units. And all future astronauts, including tourists, are sure to “spin” on a centrifuge before flying
